ملخص: تبلورت النّظريّة السّياقيّة واكتمل نضجها في العصر الحديث على يد العالم الإنجليزي "فيرث"، إلّا أنّ جذورها ضاربة في القدم، لأنّ العرب لهم فضل السّبق والرّيادة في هذا المجال حيث تعرّضوا لها بالشّرح والتّفصيل في ثنايا كتبهم، وبيّنوا العلاقة الوطيدة الّتي تربط السّياق بالمعنى، و أثره الفعّال في النَّظْم لتحديد دلالات الكلمات، فقط كانوا يفتقدون للمصطلح، ولنثبت دور السّياق قمنا بتطبيقه على بعض حروف الجرّ في اللّغتين العربيّة والإنجليزيّة. Abstract This research aims at shedding light the theory of context that has been completely elaborated during the modern era thanks to the scientists the english « Firth », but it goes back to an ancient period thanks to the Arabs who first did explain it in details in their writings. They did explicit the strict relationship between the context and meanings as well as the impact of the context on the fact to detect the different significations of words. However,they did lack the way to deal with the terminology. So as to show this, we did choose some prepositions in both language Arabic and English as a practice.
