Authors : Ais Hamza . Keskes Said .

Abstract

The present study evaluates the extent to which authentic videos are integrated in second year phonetics classes at Batna 2 University. It aims at exploring both teachers’ perceptions and students’ attitudes towards using authentic videos for teaching phonetics and the barriers against its implementation. For data collection, a teachers’ interview and a students’ questionnaire were conducted. The study revealed teachers’ positive intentions and efforts, however their lack of training and the lack of technologies at the English department led to the absence of using authentic videos for teaching phonetics. Syllabus designers are invited to reconsider teaching phonetics with cautious attention to the integration of different authentic audiovisuals.
