Abstract
Understanding, coming to grips with, as well as formulating and testing hypotheses, with a view of demonstrating whether they are accepted or rejected, are an indelible part of serious research, without which the research problem turns out hollow. Although hypotheses are only means to an end, they need to be well formulated and boldly put forward. The current paper undertook to explain in a simple and sober pedagogical style with a quiet hope and lend a hand to novice researchers in particular to be able to craft and test hypotheses. All the given examples have a theme in common: (the teaching of) English as a foreign language (EFL). أشكلة و فحص الفرضيات بهدف تحديد ما إذا كانت مقبولة أو ملغاة جزء مهم في أي بحث جدي و بدونه يكون الإشكال خاويا. رغم أن الفرضيات وسيلة لبلوغ غاية، إلا أنها يجب أن تكون بصياغة محكمة و معروضة بجرأة. تهدف هذه الورقة لشرح بأسلوب بيداغوجي سهل و واضح للباحثين المبتدئين تحديدا كيفية فهم صياغة و فحص الفرضيات. كل الأمثلة التي قدمت تشترك في كونها في مجال تدريس الإنكليزية كلغة أجنبية.
