Business is a tool of paramount importance through which countries increase their economy and many other aspects all over the world. Since English is the dominant language used in this field, many cultures and nations meet together to do business. For that, translation is needed to transfer massages between languages among different countries. This study aims to cast some light on the difficulties that first year Master students of English (Linguistics and Applied Languages) face while translating business terms. It also seeks to test whether students tend to translate those terms literally, and to investigate to what extent they are aware of using the different methods of translation in order to get an accurate equivalent in the target text. The data are gathered through the use of a written test with different technical terms that students are required to translate. The results show that the students are influenced by their first language (Arabic) which results in the use of literal translation as a method by most of them, and this influences the meaning of the source text.
