تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تبيان أخلاقيات الباحث الاجتماعي أثناء إجرائه للبحوث والدراسات الاجتماعية النظرية والميدانية. في جميع مراحل العملية البحثية فهي عاكسة لثقافة ومستوى الباحث من جهة وتصنف البحث الذي قام به من جهة أخرى، بحيث يراعي مقدرته العلمية والمعرفية ويقوم ببحثه وفقا للشروط العلمية المتعارف عليها سواء في جمع المراجع العلمية النظرية أو المنهجية أو المعطيات الميدانية أو طريقة التعامل مع المبحوثين واحترام الخصوصيات والمبادئ الخاصة، فالمادة العلمية اليوم أصبحت متداولة بشكل متسارع إلا أن البعض من الباحثين لا يحترم هذه القواعد التي تضفي للبحث قيمته الإيجابية، مما أصبح يتطلب إعادة النظر في أخلاقيات البحث بشكل مستمر وتنبيه الباحث بضرورة التقيد بهذه الشروط.
