Authors : Cherara Djelloul . Bakbak Leila Ismahane .

Abstract

The purpose of this research paper is to investigate the relationship between climate change and monetary stability, which is the primary goal of the Bank of Algeria’s monetary policy by employing wavelet analysis on monthly data over the period 1996 to 2021 . The results showed that temperature changes affect inflation in the short run, while rainfall affects food inflation in the short and long run. These findings highlight the importance that Bank of Algeria must place on climate change in the designing and management of monetary policy, as well as coordinating with the government to mitigate the effects of these changes on macroeconomic indicators and banking system institutions, allowing them to finance economic agents more effectively.
