Une Stèle Au Cavalier Inédite De La Région De M'fatha (médea)

Cette étude concerne une stèle au cavalier découverte de manière fortuite dans la région de M'fatha, wilaya de Médéa. Revêtant un caractère funéraire, l'originalité de cette stèle se manifeste à travers son architecture ainsi que les thèmes iconographiques qu'elle arbore. L'examen de cette œuvre sculpturale révèle un thème principal : un cavalier muni d'une lance, représenté sous forme d'un bas relief. Au pied de la stèle, le sculpteur a gravé au trait l'image d'un lion dans une position couchée. La figuration du cavalier, visage et torse en position frontale, sous un fronton triangulaire évoquant l'architecture d'un temple, suggère la célébration d'un personnage de haut rang social, chevauchant une monture assez harnachée. L'association de l'image du félin au cavalier peut tout autant traduire l'autorité et la force du cavalier, que ses exploits dans le domaine de la chasse. This study concerns a horseman's stele discovered accidentally in the region of M'fatha, wilaya of Médéa. Bearing a funerary character, the originality of this stele is evident through its architecture and the iconographic themes it displays. Examination of this sculptural work reveals a main theme: a horseman armed with a lance, depicted in bas-relief. At the base of the stele, the sculptor has line-engraved an image of a lion in a lying position. The representation of the horseman, with a frontal face and torso under a triangular pediment reminiscent of temple architecture, suggests the celebration of a person of high social standing, riding a fairly harnessed mount. The association of the feline image with the horseman may equally convey the authority and strength of the horseman, as well as his exploits in the field of hunting.
