Authors : Khalili Khadidja . Koudded Mohamed .

Abstract

The world has witnessed an increasing emphasis on international communication and engagement with English-speaking countries and businesses. Many people worldwide aim to enhance their English proficiency and cater to specific objectives, especially for business purposes. Consequently, a rising demand for teaching English for Business Purposes (EBP) has emerged across non-English speaking countries, and Algeria is no exception. However, the status of teaching EBP in higher education remains undervalued, with English courses offered by most Algerian universities failing to consistently meet the learners' specific needs, except within English departments. The present study aims at exploring the status of EBP within the Department of Economics, Business and Management Sciences at Adrar University. In that vein, a survey questionnaire is delivered to Master 1 Economics students, complemented by an interview conducted with the teacher of English at the same department.
