The article treats the intercultural content of first- and second-generation French textbooks of Middle Cycle through the analysis of Self and Other’s representations and the aspects of cultivated and anthropological culture. The main objective is to identify the changes made while comparing the contents of these textbooks and to note how much they are contextualized and adapted to the official instructions. We focus in this article on the history of French language education in Algeria in order to understand the place given to culture and intercultural dimension. Then, we focus on the principles of the new textbooks and on the intercultural education. In last, we open the perspectives towards studies having this dimension or others as subject of exploration. In fact, the new revision of textbooks had in reality only the reintroduction of the same learning contents especially by the textual approach and the exclusion of the aspects of intercultural education.
