الملخص
تهدف هذه الورقة البحثية إلى تسليط الضوء على مفهوم الشرق الأوسط، حيث يتضح أن هذا المصطلح لم يكن وليد مرحلة معينة، كما أنه ظل يتوسع أحيانا ليشمل دولا عربية و غير عربية أو ينكمش وفقا لإستراتيجيات و أهداف القوى العظمى المهيمنة، و التي ساعدتها وجود العديد من التناقضات و الإختلافات الثقافية و الهوياتية داخل المجتمعات المشكلة لهذه المنطقة من مرحلة إلى أخرى، و بذلك فقد تغيرت الصياغات السياسية و الجغرافية و المسميات بالنسبة لهذا المصطلح، من الشرق الأوسط الحديد إلى الشرق الأوسط الكبير إلى الشرق الأوسط العظيم، و ذلك كله حسب المفاهيم الأمريكية. This research paper aims to shed light on the concept of the Middle East, as it is clear that this term was not a product of a certain stage, and it continued to expand sometimes to include Arab and non-Arab countries, or shrink according to the strategies and objectives of the dominant great powers, which were helped by the presence of many cultural and identity contradictions and differences within the societies making-up this region from one stage to another. Thus the political and geographical formulations and names for this term changed, from the New Middle East to the Large Middle East to the Great Middle East; all of this, following the American concepts.
