This critical appreciation of Ms Bishop's book relates to the book “Black Power and Palestine: Transnational Countries of Color, by Michael R. Fischbach”. This book makes two major contributions to the realm of black-Palestinian solidarity: first, a nuanced understanding of politics, and second, an emphasis on the significance of this historic moment. This work identifies how Middle Eastern politics connected with the development of the African-American freedom struggle in the 1960s and 1970s and details the course of two opposing currents within it: members of the Black Power movement, who embraced the cause of Palestinian national liberation before and during 1967, and civil rights organizations.
