الملخص
Summary Critic Edward Said is considered one of the first critics who paved the way for the emergence of “Cultural Studies” through a collection of criticism books of both a cultural and political nature. His books have caused a radical transformation in the mechanisms of criticism and the way of dealing with texts. Edward Said has presented a new approach of connecting the text with its native culture, and he emphasized the mundanity of the literary text; which is its relationship with reality. Edward Said has adopted this approach as a means of exposing the involvement of the Western imaginative novelist in supporting dominance, and the European self centeredness, through negatively representing the Eastern other. Key Words: “Cultural Studies”, Text, Reality, Narration, Imperialism. الملخص: يعد الناقد "إدوارد سعيد" واحدا من النقاد الأوائل الذين مهّدوا لظهور "الدراسات الثقافية"؛ وذلك من خلال سلسلة من الكتب النقدية ذات الطابع الثقافي والسياسي، وقد أحدثت كتبه تحولا جذريا في آليات النقد، وطريقة التعامل مع النصوص. قدّم "إدوارد سعيد" طرحا جديدا يربط النص بالثقافة التي أنتجته، وذهب إلى القول بدنيوية النص الأدبي؛ أي علاقة النص بالواقع، وقد تبنى "إدوارد سعيد" هذا الطرح كمحاولة لكشف النقاب عن تورط المتخيل الروائي الغربي في تعزيز الهيمنة، ومركزية الذات الأوروبية عن طريق التمثيل السلبي للآخر الشرقي.
