A morphological characterization of the local goat population was conducted in the region of Setif. The objective of this study was to characterize morphologically the goat population in the region of Setif, in perspective of a contribution to a better understanding of goat genetic resources which remain not studied until now. The body measurements were performed on 575 females goats distributed over 14 ditricts in the region. This study take unto account, 17 quantitative variables collected and were subjected to a discriminant factor analysis. Our results show that the length of the head (LH), and height at the back (HB), were the most discriminant variables for axis 1, the length of the ears (LE) and hips to the length of the second axis in females.
