Differential ontology of Gilles Deleuze addresses nature identity by formulating a concept of difference as constitutive, rather than thinking that difference is an observable relationship between entities whose identities are already established or known. The essentialist tradition, unlike the tradition of differential ontology, attempts to situate the identity of a given thing in essential properties, and it occupies, in one form, the entire history of philosophy. However, differential ontology includes identity from the ever-changing relationship of relationships in which identity is found as a secondary determination.
