This research paper is an empirical attempt to find out how to effectively teach either American or British civilization courses in EFL settings in which the situation is increasingly becoming hard for EFL students as they continuously fail to grasp the general meanings of the course content. The primary objective of the present work is to investigate how hermeneutic approach affects the teaching of American civilization courses to nonnative speakers of English who are almost considered as 'digital natives'. This can be achieved by opting for a mixed methods approach in which the triangulation of data gathering tools is marked. The results of this study deepened our understanding on the significance of teaching and learning academic volume of American civilization in accordance with the tenets of critical hermeneutic approach.
