In recent years, successive Algerian governments have become increasingly interested to SMEs and entrepreneurship. Today, in view of the important role that SMEs occupies in the industrial fabric, it can’t be excluded from the analysis and debate on social and environmental responsibility (CSR). But despite these advantages, the majority of Algerian SMEs grant very little interest in social and environmental commitment. In fact, these SMEs have structures that often do not allow them to respond effectively to social and environmental problems they face. The objective of our work is to study the perception of the concept of CSR in Algerian SMEs. Our approach is purely exploratory and is based on a quantitative study conducted with 86 SMEs. The research results have allowed us, first, to identify the perception of the concept of CSR, and then develop, based on the perception of leaders, types of clusters, finally, to propose a scheme of analysis of these practices to a diagnosis of the environmental commitment of Algerian SMEs.
