This subject sheds light on the phenomenon of loanwords from Arabic into English over many years or even centuries, either directly or via other languages such as Latin, French, Spanish or Italian…., since various European languages have borrowed many Arabic words and expressions. In this regard, we have selected these words from different dictionaries, corpora as well as other references containing such items. We have tried as much as possible to be as concise and objective as possible with comparisons, in case of necessity, to show the Arabic origin of such words that enriched greatly the English dictionary in various important fields such as chemistry, mathematics, botany, trade, religion and law. In addition, we have mentioned different transformations and alterations that occurred during the transfer from Arabic into English. The study ends with a conclusion throwing light on ways and techniques used when borrowing words from Arabic to English.
