Analysis Of The Reality Of Digitalization And The Digital Divide In Algeria Based On Selected International Indicators

Abstract
The study aimed to examine the reality of digitization and the digital divide in Algeria from 2010 to 2024. It used international indicators such as the ICT Development Index and its sub-indices provided by the International Telecommunication Union to analyze the gap. The study revealed a positive trend in the measures measuring the level of digitization in Algeria over time, including the Network Readiness Index, the DiGix Index, and the IDI Index. Additionally, it demonstrated an increase in the magnitude of the disparity internally and in comparison to the world scale. The study underscored the critical need for a well-defined plan for digital transformation in Algeria. Such a plan is essential to guide policymakers and stakeholders in promoting economic and social progress and mitigating the risk of a digital divide between them and other nations.
