Abstract
Environmental citizenship is the concept that encompasses an individual's values, ethics, and behaviours aimed at reducing environmental impacts. For some, protecting the local environment is contractual and an extension of their duty, while for others, it involves individual or community behaviours driven by a commitment to the values of justice, equality, and associated civic virtues. The theoretical framework of environmental citizenship extends beyond the traditional social and political components, encompassing the ethical dimensions associated with civic virtues. The concept of environmental citizenship is crucial in understanding the social movement surrounding the environment and is a key factor in protecting and preserving it.
