Abstract

Since, his early years, Eliot was inclined to mysticism, which was already in vogue during the modern age. Mysticism appeared in Modernism as panacea to heal the sick spirit of the modern man. But the kind of mysticism, which was rife in that period, is of a sentimental or psychological sort. Contrariwise, the mysticism endorsed by Eliot is of a religious kind.
