Authors : Bekouche Mahbouba . Kadim Elsaid Haider .

Abstract

This study explores the intricate challenges of translating Arabic poetry, focusing on emotional and nonverbal content. By examining the works of three renowned poets—Al-Khansa, Dhu al-Rummah, and Al-Mutanabbi—we delve into the complexities of conveying profound grief, cultural cues, and themes of pride and aspiration. The analysis integrates sociolinguistic theory and the concept of Dynamic Equivalence to provide a comprehensive framework for understanding the translation process. Through detailed case studies, we identify common challenges and successful strategies in translating the rich emotional and cultural nuances of Arabic poetry. This research highlights the crucial role of translators as cultural mediators and underscores the importance of cultural sensitivity and adaptation in preserving the emotional integrity of the original texts.
