الملخص
The idea of establishing cities grew after the spread of Islam, and specific criteria governed the establishment of these cities. The nucleus of those cities was the House of Government and the Great Mosque, and around them the streets, neighborhoods, city buildings and markets were organized. With the growth of the urbanization and construction movement, there was a natural extension of those cities to accommodate the urbanization movement. It is the same challenge that we face as a result of the increasing population numbers in the current cities. Some cities were distinguished by the growth of trade or the flourishing of crafts and industries, while others were distinguished by the luxury of construction and the good organization of neighborhoods and streets. The architectural and urban philosophy of the city of Cairo maintained the growth of social life, the enrichment of society, the preservation of the community environment and its continued development throughout the ages. The market community is based on the specialization of the market in the quality of the traded commodity, one market for copper, another for the trade of cloth, and another for weapons. The rule of these markets is control standards in preserving their environment, the safety of the movement of trade in them, and the integrity of trading, in addition to the specifications of the buildings, their organization, their height, their area, and their alignment in the general framework of the city. And the preservation of these cities, such as historic Cairo, on the elements to play its urban and architectural role, reflects the image of sustainable cities at the present time. From the perspective of architectural and urban philosophy to set the controls for the establishment of modern cities, the foundation is based on the original data, taking into account the advanced developments and ensuring the achievement of progress and social prosperity from the concept of architecture and urbanism in the cultural and historical heritage of the Islamic city in the light of the changes of the era. It is the pillar from which environmentally friendly cities and sustainable cities that form the core of prosperity and progress for human societies were launched
