The current study explores the intercultural communicative competence (ICC) level of Algerian EFL learners at the Department of English and Literature at Mohamed Khider University of Biskra, Algeria. It also investigates their areas of deficiency related to this competence in order to contribute to filling the research gap that concerns this issue in the Algerian context. For this purpose, the quantitative method was adopted to analyze the data gathered using the Intercultural Competence Scale. The findings revealed that the overall learners’ level of ICC is beyond the less competent. Moreover, the detailed analysis of the five ICC factors indicated that the participants are more competent in the affective factor than in the other four, in which they manifest a weak level. Concerning their ICC areas of weakness, they demonstrated deficiencies related to necessary IC knowledge and some IC behavioral performance abilities.
