Abstract
The role of the maritime transportation sector in the economic and social development of every country cannot be overlooked or underestimated. The growth and prosperity achieved in this sector have a ripple effect on all other sectors. Thus, there is a strong correlation between the growth of this sector and the overall economic activity of the country. This is reflected in the significant contribution that this sector makes to the gross . domestic product (GDP) and in increasing the financial returns to the state, whether directly or indirectly إن الدور الذي يلعبه قطاع النقل البحري على المستوى الاقتصادي والاجتماعي لكل دولة لا يمكن تغافله أو التغاضي عنه، فالنمو والازدهار اللذان يتحققان في هذا القطاع يمتد تأثيرها ليشمل جميع القطاعات الأخرى، وبالتالي هناك ارتباط قوي بين النمو الذي يحصل في هذا القطاع وبين نمو النشاط الاقتصادي للبلد بمجمله، وينعكس هذا كله في المساهمة الكبيرة التي يقدمها هذا القطاع في نمو الناتج المحلي الإجمالي وفي زيادة العوائد المالية للدولة سواء كان ذلك بشكل مباشر أو غير مباشر .
