Abstract
Ahdaf Soueif is an Egyptian Diasporic novelist who adopts non-linear style of writing to reflect her state of in-betweeness. The fragmented structure of her fictional stories hints to the internal conflicts ofthe novelist and her central character’s (Aisha). The stories in “Aisha” defy chronology and refuse to be ordered even though they share the same narrator in the eight stories throughout different parts of her life. The effects of displacement on the psyche of the character would be examined in order to reflect on the fragmentation of the collection as a whole. Therefore, the current paper tries to investigate the themes of loss and displacement in the collection of short stories “Aisha” in an attempt to highlight the process by which the novelist translates this sense of frustration into a fragmented piece of writing. أهداف السويف هي روائية مصرية مغتربة تتبنى أسلوب كتابة غير متسلسل ليعكس حالتها البينية، حيث يشير الهيكل المجزأ لقصصها الخيالية إلى الصراعات الداخلية للروائية وشخصيتها المركزية (عائشة). تتحدى القصص في "عائشة" التسلسل الزمني وترفض أن يتم ترتيبها على الرغم من أنها تشترك في نفس الراوي في القصص الثمانية طوال مراحل مختلفة من حياتها .سيتم فحص آثار النزوح على نفسية الشخصية من أجل رصد أثرها على تجزئة المجموعة ككل، لذلك تحاول الدراسة الحالية التحقيق في موضوع الضياع والنزوح في مجموعة القصص القصيرة عائشة في محاولة لتسليط الضوء على العملية التي تترجم الروائية من خلالها هذا الإحساس بالإحباط إلى قطعة كتابية مجزأة
