The displacement is a characteristic of the poetic language. It provides excellence, uniqueness, fascination, and influence, and it is the most important feature of poetry. Although the displacement is a concern of linguists, critics and men of rhetoric, philosophers have their fingerprints in it too; the Muslim philosophers’ theories have benefitted Arabian ancient criticism in the field of poetry with the tools and formulaic theories it supplied it with. These benefits can be found in the ancient great works related to Rhetoric and poetry done by two famous figures of philosophy in the Islamic history: IbnSina and IbnRushd, and in their understanding of poetry.
