On the eve of the french occupation of algeria in the 1830, many diseases and epidemics spread among algerian society, because of natural disasters, and the negative repercussions of the socio-economic colonial policy on the people, it is indispensable for french authority taking many preventive and medical measures against infectious diseases and epidemics ,such as (cholera, plague, smallpox, typhus, malaria,…etc) ,to develop the health system in the colonized algeria, to avoid the spread of these diseases and epidemics among the french and european settlers, as well as to guarantee stability of the colonial settlement in algeria, Although the duplication of preventive and medical treatment between french and algerian people, however french colonial medicine in algeria contributed significantly to the elimination of many epidemics and diseases that spread in the 19th century.
