The rhetoric of substitution is considered as the most important means of expression in language because it works through innovation and upgrading the lowest level to the highest level of beauty. Linguists have divided rhetoric of substitution into two types: synthetic and substitution. In this article we will discuss the concept of rhetoric of substitution linguistically and idiomatically and its manifestations in the poetry of Ibn Edahir El Irbili (602h - 677h), of analogy (simple and inverted representation), allegory, metaphor, and intertextuality. The focus is on the effect of substitution as a rhetorical medium in renewing linguistic and semantic structures, by conveying messages, convincing minds and enjoying souls.
