This paper aims to investigate and analyse the discourse of Algerian mythological narratives in form of oral and written tales or stories, where females are considered as monsters and subservient, in comparison to males who are depicted as powerful creatures. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to define and study the different functions within these narratives. It also aims to asses Algerian myths according to Campbell’s model of functions
