The present research paper is an attempt to cast light on the imaginary settings created by the renowned American writer William Faulkner and the Indian influential novelist R.K Narayan. It is of essence to speak of fictive space in greater length so that to get a grander insight into the authors’ deep attachment and commitment to their fictional counties which are modelled after the real life counties that they grew up in. Understanding the fabrication of Yoknapatawpha and Malgudi helps ( us ) understand the writers’ perception of art . Therefore, it is of great importance to understand the author in order to understand his text as it is of utmost significance to understand context so that to understand the text and each of Yonapatawpha County and Malgudi form the context of nearly most of their cycle of fiction since the writers’ literary creations are deeply grounded in their homelands . Though belonging to different parts, cultures, contexts and backgrounds, both William Faulkner , and R.K Narayan write in the same expressive language which is English . Relying on their background, they had the base to write about their imaginary county, with its half-real and half-imaginary characters , exposing to the reader a typical view and a proper perspective of visualizing people , stressing their customs and modes of life in the respective countries .
