الملخص
This study attempts to detect the importance and the quality of historical knowledge that can give us the “Mahakim Sharia” documents, about the craft activity in Algeria and its political affiliations and its social effects. According to these documents we can identify three most important elements in this topic - The first is the aspects of the crises in the end of the 19th century. - The second is the causes of declining of Crafts sector. - The third point finds the implications of the collapse of the crafts in the social life. The colonial system destroyed the economic and the social situation of the Algiers craftsmen in an early period (between 1830-1880), the situation is similar in the cities of Constantine and telemcen, which have continued to suffer until the end of the 19th century.
