This study seeks to delineate the concept of health media, notably absent from our professional and academic discourses, elucidating its characteristics, objectives, and contemporary approaches to its implementation. It subsequently examines the response of Algerian satellite television channels in this arena, contextualized by the nascent media engagement with health phenomena in Algeria amid the global and local proliferation of the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings indicate that the Algerian audiovisual media, encompassing both public and private sectors, lacks cogent strategies for managing health crises, attributable to its prior disregard for health phenomena and its alignment with overarching policy responses to crises.
