Transaction Costs: A Determining Factor In The Emergence Of Compagnies

Authors : Lazib Lynda .

Abstract

This study examines the theory of transaction costs, as developed by R. Coase, O. Williamson, and D. North, in the context of firm emergence. Specifically, we explore how transaction costs impact the formation of firms in Algeria. The firm, which depends on the quality of its institutional environment, would be encouraged to invest more in environmental conditions that reduce transaction costs. In Algeria, the problem of a business sector that is struggling to emerge and of growth that continues to depend directly and indirectly on the hydrocarbons sector seem to be subject to the institutional gap. Where the business sector faces challenges in its development and remains reliant on the hydrocarbons industry, addressing institutional constraints becomes crucial. We propose a discussion on the various forms of transaction costs related to investment and recommend actions to mitigate these constraints for Algerian companies
