تعيش الإنسانية اليوم في خضمّ ثورة تكنولوجية عظيمة خرج العالم خلالها من عصر المعلوماتية ودخل عهد المعرفاتية تزامنا مع ظهور الانترنت و وسيلتها الكمبيوتر الذي انتقل من المخابر والاستعمالات المتخصّصة ليكتسح كلّ مجالات الحياة مما أفرز عالمين متداخلين عالم عادي متّصل ويمثّله الحرف العربي بأناقة فائقة وعالم افتراضي منفصل تمّ تكييف الحرف الغربي معه لاحتواء خصائص الكمبيوتر ذي الطبيعة المنفصلة.
