Plasticization Of Polylactic Acid (pla) By Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (eva) And Acetyl Tributyl Citrate (atbc)

Abstract

This work focused on the study of plasticization of the polylactic acid (PLA) by ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and acetyl tributyl citrate (ATBC). It is made by mixing of the different formulations PLA-EVA and PLA-EVAATBC in plastograph at different content. The thermal behavior of the materials was studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The plasticizing effect of the PLA by EVA and ATBC, on the thermomechanical behavior was studied by dynamical mechanical analysis (DMA). According to the TGA, the addition of ATBC plasticizer makes PLA thermally less stable. Else, the thermomechanical study showed a partial miscibility for all formulations.
