The article has for object to study the effect of proposed treatments for wood shavings on the physico-mechanical properties of the lightweight sand concrete. The first part of this experimental study has been dedicated to determining the optimal composition of sand concrete alleviated by untreated wood shavings. This composition constitutes a compromise studied between the compactness and the workability. However, the second part has been reserved to the study of the different proposed treatments for wood shavings by superficial coating and their influence on the physico-mechanical properties of the studied concretes. The obtained results show that both types of proposed treatments contribute favorably to the improvement of compactness, thermal properties and mechanical properties.
Sand concrete, lightweight concrete, wood shavings, physico-mechanical properties, thermal conductivity.
