Résumé
El objeto del presente artículo se centra en la representación y la redefinición de la identidad nacional a través del personaje principal (Arturo Cova) en la novela La vorágine (1924) del autor colombiano J.E Rivera. La vorágine representa a la vida de los caucheros en las Selvas colombianas y describe las condiciones precarias en que vivían en las zonas rurales, los crímenes e injusticias cometidas hacia ellos. Por ello, el libro juega el papel de archivo antropológico y es considerado como un hito del realismo épico contemporáneo americano. Nuestro trabajo de investigación intenta encontrar y justificar la relación entre la escritura y la experiencia vital de Cova. Nos interesamos a la perspectiva autobiográfica hallada en sus escritos. Abstract: The object of this article focuses on the representation and redefinition of national identity through the main character (Arturo Cova) in the novel La Vorágine by the Colombian author José Eustasio Rivera. A literary work written in 1924 and considered a classic of Latin American letters.. The maelstrom represents the life of rubber tappers in the Colombian rainforests. The book describes the precarious conditions in which Colombians lived in rural areas, the crimes and injustices committed against them. Therefore, the book plays the role of anthropological archive of these regions and is considered as a milestone of contemporary American epic realism. Our research work attempts to find and justify the relationship between writing and Cova’s life experience.
