Acinetobacter baumannii is an opportunistic pathogen very frequently responsible for pneumonia, meningitis bacteraemia, urinary tract infections and wound infections, in weakened subjects. This bacterium can be resistant to antibiotics, especially carbapenems. It is difficult to identify it, which makes the task of treatment very complicated. The advent of the molecular approach in the diagnosis of infections has given health professionals a very effective, rapid and conclusive means of management.
