Abstract This study contributes to the enrichment of the theoretical body since it is a new subject. It investigates the buying intention survival of a car. To test a set of research assumptions, we surveyed 123 Tunisian consumers. The data was analysed with survival analysis method. This method has never been applied in this context. In so doing, we measured the average duration of buying intention survival, which could extend over 235 months. We also demonstrated that beyond 20 months, the risk of abandonment of purchasing intentions becomes higher than the survival probability. We verified the negative effect of buying anticipated regret on the buying intention survival of a car.
