The Relative Age Effect On Performance In The Individual Time Trial And The One-day Race In The U17 Category Riders.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the relative age effect on performance in the individual time trial and the one-day race in the U17 category riders. Sixty-two (62) male riders (Age=15.24±0.57) in the individual time trial event and fifty-six (56) in the one day race (Age=15.28±0.59), participated in our study. The riders were divided into 8 birth octiles. Better individual time trial performance by riders in the first and fourth octile of the even-numbered year (2006). Better one day race performance of riders belonging to the four octiles of the same year (2006).
