Authors : Fares Laid . Moussaoui Hadj .

Abstract

Emir Abdelkader showed human values that became a reference in dialoguing with the other, we observe aspects of these values in his military efforts to establish a modern Algerian state and to fight the French colonizer at the same time (1831-1847), as we find him keen to ensure the Algerian people unity at that time through allegiance and others Among other measures, the issue of protecting prisoners during the resistance of Emir Abdelkader shows the Emir’s keenness to respect human values, which is evident in his letters to French military leaders in Algeria, which focuses on the respect of human rights, despite the extreme aggressiveness shown by the French forces. We can see that again in his writings and letters during his captivity in France (1847-1853), which confirmed his quest to spread human brotherhood and to renounce injustice and wars. He was subject of admiration and veneration by the most prominent rulers and kings of the world at the time. Given the value of his achievement in consolidating the values of tolerance, it has become a global cultural heritage that offers basis to set principles to be taken to achieve world peace.
