Résumé : Présentement, la médecine dite traditionnelle, connaît une grande extension en Algérie. Plusieurs pratiques sont observées s’exprimant au nom de la médecine traditionnelle d’une part, et de la médecine prophétique connue d’autre part, notamment, par la Rokya et la Hijâma. De toute façon, on constate que la médecine arabomusulmane reste encore vivante dans la pratique de la médecine traditionnelle. Nous avons constaté dans notre travail en psychiatrie que beaucoup de patients tardent à venir consulter malgré la bruyance du tableau clinique, en effet les familles sont convaincues que leur état relève plus de thérapeute traditionnel, ce n’est qu’en l’absence d’amélioration qu’ils viennent consulter en psychiatrie. Il est essentiellement question de poser la problématique de la santé, de la maladie et de la prise en charge du malade dans un contexte culturel qui est fonction d'une vision du monde caractéristique de l’homme religieux. Dans notre présentation, on va aborder les principales pratiques de la médecine traditionnelle ainsi que quelques explications psychopathologiques du symptôme psychiatrique. A la fin, nous allons illustrer cela à travers deux cas de patients que nous avons reçu dans le cadre de l’urgence. Abstract: Currently, so-called traditional medicine is experiencing a great extension in Algeria. Several practices are observed expressing in the name of traditional medicine on the one hand, and prophetic medicine known on the other hand, in particular, by the Rokya and the Hijâma. Anyway, we see that Arab-Muslim medicine is still alive in the practice of traditional medicine. We have observed in our work in psychiatry that many patients delay coming to consult despite the noisiness of the clinical picture, in fact the families are convinced that their condition is more a matter for traditional therapists, it is only in the absence of improvement that they come to consult in psychiatry. It is essentially a question of posing the problem of health, illness and the care of the sick in a cultural context which is a function of a vision of the world characteristic of the religious man. In our presentation, we will discuss the main practices of traditional medicine as well as some psychopathological explanations of psychiatric symptoms. At the end, we will illustrate this through two cases of patients we received in the emergency setting.
