Abstract : The Russian invasion of Ukraine is expected to have repercussions across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), as well as the rest of the world. Russia's war in Ukraine is preventing grain from leaving the "breadbasket of the world" and raising global food prices, threatening to exacerbate shortages and spark a global food crisis. Russia and Ukraine account for nearly one-third of global wheat and barley exports. Although Algeria is not a large importer of wheat from Russia or Ukraine at the moment, prices are rising, and all countries that are net importers of these commodities, including Algeria, may face significant consequences. This article further discusses the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on the globe’s food security and economy while proposing recommendations to face this crisis.
