At every moment in today’s life, the organization faces a huge amount of data known as Big Data. This data is characterized by its multiple sources, high speed and volume, and it requires collection, storage and processing to benefit from it. Ignoring this type of data may miss the organization real opportunities and advantages or may cause difficult challenges. In this paper, we aim to focus on the concept of big data technology; by explaining its characteristics, sources, and the parties that deal with it, as well as the various opportunities and challenges that can impose on the organization and push it to invest in. Finally, we clarify its most important effects on the organization in terms of decision-making and marketing process.
