Paradoxes Of History،re-petitions Of History

Authors : Abdelkader Babkar .

Abstract

This paper makes as its springboard the opening words of Abou alkassem SaadAllah’s The Algerian National Movement. These words went: “I know of no historian that has compared the French occupation of Algeria to the Tatars’s occupation to Bagdad. What seems to explain the abstention of the previous historians from drawing such a comparison is due to the fact that they know beforehand that the prior are a civilised nation and that the latter are a barbaric nation،as they are certain that what a barbaric nation does is but demolition and what a civilised nation is prone to do is but construction. Moreover، Tatars no longer exist with such a description but in historical events،and that the French are still existent،living amongst people and defending their rights with all it could take،including (the means) menace and camouflage…..And if there is any similarity found by the reader between the fomer and the latter،I hope the reader’s spine would not chill…..because history is full of contradictions. Some would go too far to consider history as a dynamic process of contradictions” (SaadAllah،1992:15)
