الملخص
كان المغرب السعدي خلال فترة حكم أحمد المنصور يعيش أزهى فترات هذه الدولة، لكن عندما حل الطاعون بالبلاد سنة 1597م، سبب بها خسائر بشرية وسياسية واقتصادية وخيمة، وقد تنوعت ظروف ظهور ذلك الطاعون بالمغرب، وكانت له تداعيات فادحة. ساهمت العلاقات المغربية-الانجليزية المتميزة في تلك الفترة للإنجليز المقيمين بالمغرب أن يكونوا شاهدين على الأوضاع وتقديم معلومات تفصيلية وهامة عنها، سواء الخسائر البشرية والاقتصادية، أو الإجراءات التي اتخذها السلطان حيال تلك الجائحة التي ألمّت بالبلاد، قبل أن يصبح المولى أحمد المنصور نفسه ضحية لذلك الوباء. Saadian Morocco was, during the reign of Ahmed Al-Mansour, living the most prosperous period of this state, but when the plague came to the country in 1597 AD, it caused severe human, political and economic losses, and the circumstances of the emergence of that plague varied in Morocco, and it had fatal repercussions. The distinguished Moroccan-English relations contributed during this period to the British residing in Morocco to be witnesses to the situation and to provide detailed and important information about them, whether human and economic losses, or the measures taken by the Sultan towards that pandemic that afflicted the country, before Mawla Ahmed Al-Mansour himself became a victim of that epidemic.
