The purpose of this work is to control the microbiological and physico-chemical quality of water (Djorf Torba dam, Bechar) in order to have the risks induced by the rivers effluents on the quality of water intended for consumption in this region. Forty samples are analysed for physico-chemical determinations (pH, conductivity, hardness, a few minerals(), and indicators of contamination) and microbiological parameters (aerobic organisms at 37°C and 20 °C, coliforms, fecal coliforms, faecal streptococci , Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium sulfate reducers , Salmonella sp) The results of the microbiological and physicochemical analyses show that this source is far from being contaminated by industrial or urban discharges, because generally the rate of pollution indicators and pathogenic organisms does not exceed the norm.
Keywords: Water, Microbiological quality, physic-chemical quality, Béchar.
