الملخص
صدر كتاب "وصف افريقيا" للحسن الوزان الفاسي في منتصف القرن السادس عشر بمدينة روما، والذي مثل آنذاك نقطة فارقة في تاريخ المعرفة العالمة الأوروبية. حيث حرر ذلك الأثر افريقيا من عُقال تمثلات أوروبا الكلاسيكية، التي صورتها كقارة جامعة لمتناقضات طبيعية وبشرية. فهي قطعة من جهنم بسبب اشتداد الحرّ فيها، وحاضنة لمجوعات بشرية لم تبلغ مرحلة الآدمية بعد، ذلك ما فسر حسب ظنهم عدم تشكل حضارات عريقة كالتي ظهرت في آسيا وأوروبا. ولقد اخذت تلك التمثلات في التبدّل حال اطلاع الأوروبيين على مدونة الحسن الوزان الفاسي الذي بيّن استنادا إلى جملة من المصادر العربية، ومن خلال خبرته بأخبار القارة تهافت التمثلات الأوروبية، مبرزا رسوخ الظاهرة البشرية بإفريقيا، دارسا لمختلف أقاليمها ومواردها وخصائصها الطبيعية والثقافة المادية واللامادية، ما جعل الأوروبيين يعيدون النظر في صورة افريقيا والانكباب على دراستها من زاوية جديدة. "The description of Africa" book was published in the middle of the sixteen century in Rome; it represented a milestone in the history of European scholarly knowledge since that book contributed in liberating Africa from classic European representations that depicted it as continent full of natural and human contradictions. Africa was considered as a piece of hell because of its extreme heat and its incubation of groups of human beings that had not yet reached the stage of humanism. In fact this is what explained why no genuine civilizations were as it happened in Asia and Europe. The European representations had gradually changed since the European writers and geographers were exposed to al Hassan el Wazzan el Fessi’ s book, in which revealed, based on a number of Arab sources and his own knowledge of the continent' s news. The unjustified European representations highlighting the rooted human phenomenon in Africa and studying its different regions, resources, cultural, natural, material and human characteristics. All this urged the Europeans to adjust the image of Africa and restudy it from a new angle.
