الملخص

On 29 November 1947, the U.N. General Assembly recommended the adoption and implementation of a Partition Plan for Palestine as Resolution 181.The resolution, which was adopted by 33 votes in favor, 13 against and 10 abstentions, divided the territory of the Mandatory Palestine into three entities: a Jewish State, including the best parts of Palestine, an Arab State, and an international trusteeship regime in Jerusalem. The resolution, which consists of a preamble and four parts, was accepted by the Jews and rejected by the Arabs. This partition resolution has had negative political, legal and ethical consequences on the Palestinian people. It has resulted in the establishment of Israel, forced expulsion of Palestinians, destabilizingthe security andstability of the region, and UN's inability to achievepeace and securityor even to removethe historical injustice inflictedon the Palestinian people. Despite the fact that its foundation was based on a UN resolution, Israel is still looking for legitimacy for its existence as a Jewish State. In fact, it has frequently requested PNA to recognize the Jewishness of Israel; however, PNA has firmly rejected such a request because it believes that Israel will use such recognition to continueits racial policyagainst its non-Jewish population and prevent thereturn of Palestinian refugeesto their homesin accordance with theUN Resolution No. 194, 1948.
