ملخص: نهدف في هذه الورقة البحثية إلى إثبات أن الفراغ الروحي للحضارة الغربية ونزوعها نحو المادية كانت وراء اعتناق ألفريد هوفمان الإسلام من خلال ثلاثة محاور، إضافة إلى مقدمة وخاتمة أشارنا فيها إلى أهم نتائج الدراسة، فتناولنا في المحور الأول تهافت الديانة المسيحية في حين عرضنا في المحور الثاني إلى فراغ مبادئ الحضارة الغربية وخصصنا المحور الثالث لبحث إشكالية الإيمان عند هوفمان؛ فتناولنا بالدراسة الإشكالية متبعين في ذلك منهجا تحليليا ونقديا يقوم على شرح التمثلات الدينية وتقييمها عند هوفمان. وخلصنا في دراستنا إلى أن شغف "هوفمان" لإدراك الحقيقة دفعه لوضع الديانة الكاثولوكية محل شكوك وتساؤلات حيث أفضى به البحث إلى بيان تهافتها، ثم درس الشيوعية والحداثة دراسة مستفيضة موضحا أسباب فشل الشيوعية في العالم وكيف حلّت مرحلة ما بعد الحداثة في الغرب موضع الحداثة، وما نتج عنه من استغراق في الملذات المادية والحسية؛ لينتهي به الأمر إلى حل لا يكمن في نظره إلا في الإيمان بالله وفي الإسلام كبديل للنظام الغربي والمسيحي معا. Abstract: In this paper, we aim to prove that the spiritual void of Western civilization and its propensity for materialism were behind Alfred Hoffman's conversion to Islam through three main axes, in addition to an introduction and a conclusion that pointed out the most important results of the study. Where the first axis dealt the ripeness of Christianity, while the second axis dealt with the emptiness of the of Western civilization principles, and we devoted the third axis is to discuss the problem of faith in Hoffman. So we dismantled the problem by following an analytical and critical approach based on explaining and evaluating religious representations when Hoffman. The study concluded that Hoffman's eagerness to seek the truth led him to put the Catholic religion into doubts and questions, and the research led to a demonstration of its ripeness, and then studied Communism and Modernity extensively, explaining the reasons for the failure of communism in the world, how the postmodernism in the West replaced modernity and its consequences and engagement in material and sensual pleasures, to conclude that the solution is in faith in God and in Islam as an alternative to the Western system and Christianity.
